The best GEO tools in 2026: 8 platforms ranked

A ranked list of generative engine optimization tools for 2026, judged on prompt tracking, citations, AI crawler logs, traffic attribution, and content. Pricing from each vendor's published plans.

Generative engine optimization tools all promise to show how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews talk about your brand. Most of them do that part reasonably well. Where they differ is everything after the mention: why the engine picked someone else, whether its crawler can even read your pages, whether the visits that come back convert, and who writes the fix.

That's how we ranked this list. We're a GEO platform ourselves, so yes, we put VisibilyRanking first, and we explain why below. For every other tool we used only published plan details as recorded in our tool notes. If a vendor doesn't publish something, we say so.

How we judged them

Five questions, weighted roughly equally:

  1. Was I named? Prompt tracking across engines, countries, and personas.
  2. Why them, not me? Citation analytics at page and domain level.
  3. Can AI crawlers reach me? Crawler logs that show GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot requests and errors.
  4. Did it bring revenue? Attribution of AI-referred visits to conversions.
  5. What do I publish next? Content drafting tied to specific gaps.

1. VisibilyRanking

VisibilyRanking tracks prompts by topic, persona, and country across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, and Google AI Overviews. Citation analytics shows the pages and domains behind each answer, including Reddit, YouTube, and review sites. Crawler logs from your CDN or host show what AI bots fetched and where they failed. A small script ties AI-referred visits to signups and sales. And the content agent drafts the page that would close a gap, holding it in a review inbox before it reaches your CMS.

The catch: there's no self-serve signup or public price list. Every account starts with a demo, and pricing is quoted afterwards based on brands, prompts, and markets. If you want to start alone at midnight, that's a real drawback.

2. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the closest thing to VisibilyRanking in scope, and the better choice if you want to start self-serve today. It covers prompt tracking with search volumes and query fan-outs, page and domain citation analytics, AI crawler logs, visitor analytics with conversions, and Content Agents that publish to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress. There's a free Explore plan (10 prompts, ChatGPT only), Essential at $95/mo, Professional at $245/mo, and Business at $579/mo, with agency plans from $199/mo.

3. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ is action-oriented: an Action Center with assignable tasks, automated schema and entity tagging, and GA4, Shopify, and Webflow revenue attribution. The free Essential tier includes 300 credits; Starter is $295/mo for 3,600 credits (one credit per AI response) and 11 models. Personas and multi-region support are on Enterprise, and it doesn't publish a crawler-log product.

4. Scrunch AI

Scrunch's differentiator is AXP, which serves AI-optimized pages straight to crawlers. Core costs $250/mo for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses a month, one brand workspace, and four LLMs, with bot traffic reporting. AXP and the full nine-LLM list are on Enterprise. AI traffic attribution to conversions isn't published.

5. Profound

Profound now sells itself as enterprise marketing agents for AEO, content, demand, and PR. Its Prompt Volumes dataset is genuinely useful demand data. After a 7-day trial (50 prompts, three engines), the product is Enterprise with custom pricing, estimated at around $40k a year. It doesn't publish crawler logs or visitor analytics, which is why it sits below the dedicated platforms here.

6. LLM Pulse

A good budget pick. Starter is €49/mo for 50 prompts and five models, Growth is €99/mo with AI traffic analytics, and every plan includes unlimited seats and an MCP server. Tracking is weekly by default; daily costs more.

7. Semrush AI Toolkit

If your team already lives in Semrush, the $99/mo per-domain add-on puts AI visibility next to your keyword data: five engines, 25 prompts, one user. Extra domains, users, and prompts are charged separately, and Claude and Copilot sit in the sales-gated Enterprise tier.

8. Writesonic GEO

Writesonic pairs tracking with metered AI article generation. Starter is $79/mo billed annually for 50 prompts, 15 articles, and three engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews). The remaining engines and the full Action Center are Enterprise only.

How to choose

If you mostly need a mention count, almost any tool here will do, and the cheaper ones are fine. If you need to explain and fix your visibility, look hard at the top two, because crawler logs and traffic attribution are where most tools stop.
